Lady Lions to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

University Park, Pa. — The Penn State Lady Lions will celebrate the annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, against Northwestern at the Bryce Jordan Center. To honor those female youth athletes, there will be free admission for youth girls that are 18 or under.

There will be a pregame autograph session with student-athletes from various Penn State women's teams. On the concourse throughout the game there will be a hands-on experience of women's athletics with uniforms and pieces of equipment. A halftime presentation is planned that includes Penn State female student-athletes and local female youth athletes. Fans will also have the opportunity to pick up promotional materials for all of the Penn State women's sports teams.

The Lady Lions travel to Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 22 for the Illini Pink Zone Day at 3 p.m. (Eastern), before returning to the Jordan Center to face Northwestern on Senior Day on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. The Lady Lions will also celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day against the Wildcats. The inaugural Pink Zone Online Auction that will run from Monday, Feb. 9 through Monday, Feb. 23. The Lady Lions will auction off all 13 of their Pink Zone game-worn jerseys, as well as other items, including a seven-day timeshare stay for anywhere in the world, Penn State experiences and autographed memorabilia. The 2009 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State proudly supported by Mimi Barash Coppersmith online auction will run until 5 p.m.  on Monday, Feb. 23. Items that will be available up for bid include all 13 of the uniforms worn by the Lady Lions for the Pink Zone game, as well as a one-week timeshare for anywhere in the world, Penn State football experiences, NASCAR experience and autographed memorabilia. The funds raised from the online auction benefit the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
