David C. Han to deliver commencement keynote

The current and 75th president of the Penn State Alumni Association, David C. Han, will deliver the keynote address at Penn State Harrisburg’s May 16 commencement ceremonies. 

The college will confer more than 500 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the ceremonies which begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Giant Center, Hershey.

Han, who is serving as president through June 30, has served on the Alumni Council since 2000, on the Alumni Association Executive Board since 2001, and as the Alumni Association’s vice president for two years prior to becoming president in July 2007.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Penn State in 1988, Han went on to earn his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1992. He completed his training in vascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 1999 before joining the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Han went on complete a master’s degree in health evaluation sciences from the Penn State College of Medicine in 2005.

Professionally, he is a vascular surgeon at the Hershey Medical Center, as well as an associate professor of surgery and radiology and program director of the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the Penn State College of Medicine and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Han resides in Hummelstown with his wife, Elizabeth, Class of ’91, son Andrew, and daughter Abby.
