Internationally renowned Oncology on Canvas art exhibition

June 04, 2009

Lilly Oncology on CanvasSM, an international traveling art exhibit honoring the physical and emotional journeys of the millions of people affected by cancer worldwide, will be on display at the new Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. The exhibit coincides with the Cancer Institute Community Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.

Lilly Oncology on Canvas was created in 2004 by Eli Lilly and Company as a way to celebrate the experiences of those whose lives have been touched by cancer. This art competition invites people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families, friends, and healthcare providers, an opportunity to express through art and narrative the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning. Past themes explored in the entries range from fear, loss of individualism, support of family and friends to the memory of those lost and the perseverance of those who survive. The exhibit travels to hundreds of cities around the globe every other year.
