Summer camps offer challenges and fun

June 04, 2009

Science, foreign languages, soccer, art, music and more are all a part of the summer camp program at Penn State York. Whether a child is interested in developing  artistic skills, writing music or taking to the soccer field, Penn State York has a variety of camps and programs scheduled throughout the summer designed to keep children engaged mentally and physically. These programs are offered though continuing education at the campus.

New for this summer is the Penn State York Summer Scholar’s Program , a new series of courses designed to meet the needs of academic achievers. In addition to the classwork, students will participate in field trips and other hands-on activities. This program is for students entering seventh and eighth grade in fall 2009. Two courses are scheduled: math in motion and amusement park science from 9 a.m. to noon June 22–26, and effective communication for the future leader, from 9 a.m. to noon July 27–31. Students must submit a letter of recommendation from their current teacher in addition to the other required documents to be registered for the course.
