College's undergraduate programs fare well in U.S. News survey

The Penn State College of Engineering was ranked 17th in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 edition of Best Colleges. Four college programs were ranked in the top 10 in the publication.

The industrial engineering program was ranked fourth. The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering has consistently ranked in the top five in the U.S. News survey.

The Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics' undergraduate program was ranked fifth.

The materials program was ranked eighth and the biological engineering program was ranked ninth.

Four other college programs were ranked in the top 20. Mechanical engineering was ranked 11th, aerospace engineering was ranked 13th and chemical engineering and civil engineering were both ranked 16th.
