University chefs compete to represent Penn State at conference

December 10, 2009

University Park, Pa. -- Cooking TV shows are as popular as ever, but it's hard to appreciate the heat of the kitchen through a television screen. Penn Staters will have a chance to see the real thing at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the south dining room at Pollock Dining Commons as University chefs showcase their expertise in a culinary competition.

Five chefs will compete in a culinary challenge that will determine who will represent Penn State at the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) regional conference at Princeton University in March. Three of the chefs are from University Park, one is from Penn State Beaver, and one is from Penn State Harrisburg.

Attendees will have a chance to see Penn State chefs in action as they prepare their very best entrees using this year's mandatory ingredient: the Portobello mushroom. The Penn State community is welcome to stop in and enjoy this fun and educational experience, and see Penn State's best chefs battle it out in the kitchen.
