Sowmyalatha Srinivasmurthy, a master's candidate in computer science and engineering, has been awarded an Association of Computing Machinery Women in Computing (ACM-W) Scholarship to attend the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis to be held in New Orleans in November.

ACM-W, with funding from Wipro Technologies, provides support for women undergraduate and graduate students in computer science and related programs who wish to attend research conferences. The student does not have to present a paper at the conference she attends.

Srinivasmurthy received her bachelor's in electronics and communication from Visveswariah Technological University in Belgaum, India, and worked at Bosch for more than five years before coming to Penn State in 2009. Her research interests are primarily in high performance scientific computing.
