State College ranks among top college towns nationally

State College, home to Penn State's University Park campus, has been ranked the second-best college town with a population below 250,000 in the United States. The ranking appeared in the 2010-11 College Destinations Index, released Wednesday by the American Institute for Economic Research. The researchers said the index describes the broader learning environments of the top 75 cities and towns for students and pulls them together into an easily digestible list.
