The 2010-11 Penn State Beaver United Way Committee has set a goal of $5,000 for the year. A variety of campus activities will be held to generate funds, including a luncheon, a silent auction, and solicitations made in person and by letter. In addition, students will be selling glow sticks at the campus’ Rock and Roar Music Fest on Sept. 23, with proceeds benefiting the United Way. Other activities and projects to raise funds will be announced throughout the semester. Last year, the campus United Way Committee exceeded its $5,000 goal. Committee co-chairs are Dana Alvetro, program assistant in the Office of Continuing Education, and Jennie Ward, staff assistant with the Registrar and the Division of Undergraduate Studies.

Other committee members are Roy Boggs, staff member in the Office of Physical Plant; Carleen Dinello, assistant director of academic affairs and senior instructor in reading and English; Cindy Platz, staff assistant in the Office of Business and Finance; Renata Shaw, staff assistant in the Office of the Chancellor and Office of Campus and Community Relations, and Claudia Tanaskovic, lecturer in chemistry.

Alvetro can be contacted at or 724-773-3762, and Ward can be reached at or 724-773-3789.
