USCAA honors Penn State Beaver Lady Lions

On May 5, Penn State Beaver sophomores Ashley Watkins (Seneca Valley High School/Cranberry Township) and Kori Freyermuth (Perry Traditional Academy, Pittsburgh) were honored by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for their outstanding performances on the Lady Lions softball team. Watkins was named USCAA All-American and Freyermuth received USCAA Honorable Mention All-American. Watkins and Freyermuth helped lead Beaver to a 21-11 overall record, including an undefeated Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) regular season finish.

Throughout the season, Watkins batted .505 with a 1.143 slugging percentage and a .561 on-base percentage. She had 46 hits, 45 RBIs, and scored 40 runs. She had 16 doubles, three triples, and 12 home runs for the season.

Freyermuth was honored for her work on the mound and at the plate. She pitched 57.2 innings, had a 6-5 record with a 1.94 ERA, and struck out a team record of 54 batters. At the plate, Freyermuth batted .420 and had 37 hits, including four doubles and six homers. In addition, she had a .670 slugging percentage and a .514 on-base percentage.
