Penn State Abington welcomes new women's basketball coach

September 30, 2011

Penn State Abington Athletics Director Karen Weaver announced that seasoned Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Coach Rick Leeman has been named head coach of the women's basketball program.

“Rick has been involved in coaching at the AAU level for the past 17 years,” said Weaver. “His expertise, coaching philosophy and coaching network will serve us well as we raise the profile of Penn State Abington women's basketball.”

Leeman, whose team will open the season on Nov. 18, has coached more than 100 players who have gone on to play college basketball. Also, several of his teams have successfully advanced to the AAU Nationals. He was an assistant coach at two private schools, one of which won back-to-back state championships, and has worked as a player talent evaluator.

Leeman replaces Kathy Drysdale, who was named the marketing manager for the Penn State Lady Lions basketball program at University Park.
