'Trash to Treasure' proceeds donated to United Way of Erie County

The campus' first Trash to Treasure event raised more than $900 for the United Way of Erie County. The May 26 sale, which was held in Erie Hall, made good use of the shoes, suitcases, coats and bicycles that students left behind when the semester ended.

Another truckload of goods was donated to the Salvation Army. Several boxes of food were taken to a food bank in North East.

“This was pretty good, for a pilot program,” said Ann Quinn, the faculty adviser for the Greener Behrend Task Force, which coordinated the sale with help from the Athletic Department at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. “We hope to do even better next year.”
