Convocation kicks off academic year

Penn State College of Medicine will mark the start of the new school year with its Convocation and Awards Ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in Junker Auditorium on the campus of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Convocation offers an annual opportunity to recognize outstanding medical and graduate students. Their accomplishments consist of scholarly excellence, research achievement and participation in humanistic and community activities. Faculty are recognized for their outstanding contributions to medical and graduate education at the College of Medicine with dean’s awards for excellence in teaching.

The keynote speaker this year will be Alumni Fellow David A. Quillen, M.D., ’90, George and Barbara Blankenship Professor of Ophthalmology, chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and director of Penn State Hershey Eye Center.
