Individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of human resources are invited to attend the SHRM Learning System, offered through Penn State Continuing Education in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Penn State Lehigh Valley. This program, offered through Penn State Fayette’s Video Learning Network system, will take place on select Saturday mornings this fall at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.

The SHRM provides the most current and comprehensive knowledge of six functional areas of human resources management: strategic management; workforce planning and employment; human resource development; compensation and benefits; employee and labor relations; and occupational health, safety, and security.

Joe Segilia, director of outreach and continuing education, said, “The program is being offered in response to the education and training needs of business professionals in southwestern Pennsylvania and West Virginia. We are pleased to be working with our colleagues at Penn State Lehigh Valley and the excellent faculty from SHRM organization to bring this professional development opportunity to the local community."

The SHRM Learning System is a 40-hour program designed to expand the skills and knowledge of individuals in the human resources field. The program is a blend of online and traditional classroom learning and will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays, Sept. 22 and 29; Oct. 6, 20, and 27; Nov. 10 and 17; and Dec. 1 and 8.

Individuals who successfully complete the course will be awarded 4.0 Continuing Education units (40 contact hours) and a Penn State certificate in Professional Human Resource Management. The cost of the course is $1,149 and includes course materials.
