Golf tournament benefits softball program

A golf scramble to benefit the Penn State New Kensington women's softball team tees it up at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Apollo Elks Country Club. The cost is $80 and includes a hot dog and soft drink at the turn, dinner and refreshments. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams along with skill prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. Alumni and friends can sign up as a team or individually. Tee sponsors are available. All proceeds are earmarked for the team’s preseason trip south during spring break 2013. The golf course is located at 151 Elks Lodge Rd. Apollo, Pa.
