Rayman paces wrestlers with 2nd place win at Waynesburg Invitational

January 10, 2013
Freshman Erik Rayman began the 2013 calendar year much the same way he ended 2012, by earning a second-place finish in the third annual Waynesburg Invitational.
Rayman advanced via a 5-3 overtime win in his opening match, before picking up 3-0 and 6-5 decisions to vault him into the finals of the 141-weight class. He was then defeated 4-2 in the championship bout, sending him to just his second loss this season. Two of Rayman's opponents - Marcello (6-5 dec.) and Richmond (2-4 dec.) - are recognized by d3wrestle.com as being national contenders.
Sophomore Matt Lago picked up two wins on the afternoon at 157, with fellow sophomore Andre Ellis earning a victory in the 285-weight class.
