Sowney nets career milestone

January 30, 2013

Senior forward Sean Sowney recorded both an assist and a goal in the Penn State Berks Blue Lions ice hockey team’s game against Towson University on Jan. 20. It might have just seemed like another instance of Sowney contributing to his squad, but it was much more. It was the culmination of four stellar years on the ice as Sowney joined the prestigious 100-point club.

Over the course of his career, Sowney tallied 47 goals and 53 assists. He has been named an assistant captain of the team, and already scored 14 goals and tallied 19 assists this season.

Sowney, a senior majoring in kinesiology, is the fourth player in the 16-year history of Penn State Berks Ice Hockey to score 100 points over the course of his college career. He is the second player at Berks to achieve this milestone in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I level.

The Blue Lions have five regular season games remaining for Sowney to further his totals in Penn State Berks Ice Hockey history.
