Alec Works

World War II veteran

On the right is Alec Works, age 100; at left, as a corporal in the U.S. Army. A history of Works' military time includes being drafted into the infantry; held back for officer training due to high test scores; started Air Cadet training, early 1944; moved to fill need in transportation; and in 1944 stationed in Differdange, Luxembourg, during the Battle of the Bulge. Some of his children and grandchildren recently visited the train station he guarded. Three of Works' five children, two son-in-laws, a granddaughter and a grandson all graduated from Penn State; and one of his children is currently a Penn State World Campus student.
