Lanernfly flight -- 03

spotted lanternfly on post

Spotted lanternflies on a post of a grape arbor in a vineyard. After crawling to the post from the vines, they spent hours walking up toward the top of the post and sitting there before trying to take flight into the wind.  The fact that the lanternflies spend so much time on such human-made objects demonstrates how posts and poles might be highly effective, ready-made monitoring/detection tools for this pest.
