Ramiah's first birthday

Ramiah Martin appears mezmerized by a balloon that was brought into the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit at Penn State Children’s Hospital on Dec. 12, 2018 for her first birthday party. The one-year-old had been born with a rare condition called tracheal agenesis. Once it was discovered that she didn’t have a trachea, a 3D printed device was surgically implanted as a scaffold to help Ramiah’s esophagus serve as a replacement for her missing trachea..
