Mining Engineering Anniversary - George Deike Sr.

George Deike Sr.

George Deike Sr., a 1903 graduate of Penn State's mining engineering program, was a founder of Mine Safety Appliances, a company that would make many advances in improving safety of mining over the years. Deike and his son George Deike Jr. collectively served 51 years on Penn State's Board of Trustees. The Deike Building on the University Park campus is named after him.
