Special Olympics Pennsylvania to celebrate 50 years of Summer Games on June 6-8

Special Olympics Pennsylvania will return to the University Park campus on June 6-8 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the annual Summer Games. Over 2,000 athletes from across the state will come together to compete across eight sports in a celebration of half a century of empowering athletes with intellectual disabilities. Penn State has hosted the event on campus for 32 consecutive years.  Full story

Global Faculty Fellow builds toward partnerships, impact in Africa

The Global Faculty Fellowship program’s mission is to provide fellows with a greater understanding of the University’s strategic goals for internationalization and the role the office of Global Programs plays as the coordinating unit for implementation. In turn, the fellows provide faculty and academic unit perspective on internationalization initiatives. Esther Obonyo, originally from Kenya, was the first Global Faculty Fellow, and she immediately saw the potential of working with African partners on impactful scientific issues.   Full story

Student Farm to host Solstice Celebration

Student Farm to host Summer Solstice Celebration on June 21

The Penn State Student Farm will host its third annual Summer Solstice Celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 21. The free event will have local food trucks selling dishes made with produce grown at the farm. Aside from food trucks, there are several activities for guests to engage in, including live music, face painting, corn hole and planting.  Full story
