Penn State Abington campus closes following Governor's decree
Penn State Abington campus will be closed from March 12 through April 3 following an announcement from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf. During a news conference on March 12, Wolf, joined by Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine, announced aggressive action to slow the spread of coronavirus in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where Abington campus is located.

Penn State's Brandywine, Great Valley campuses close on governor's action
Penn State's Brandywine and Great Valley campuses are closed, effective immediately, in accordance with action by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf to combat the global coronavirus pandemic. Remote instruction on these campuses will continue.

Brandywine's Nikki Velez selected as USCAA National Player of the Year
Penn State Brandywine senior guard Nikki Velez capped off her four-year career by being named the top women's basketball player in Division II of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) during the 2019-20 season.

Penn State funds high-impact coronavirus research
The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences — with support from the Materials Research Institute, the Social Sciences Research Institute, the Institute for Computational and Data Science and the Institutes for Energy and the Environment — has issued a request for proposals for projects that will utilize Penn State's unique research strengths to contribute to the global coronavirus response.

New Pennsylvania voting law allowing mail-in ballot to impact statewide voters
A new voting law now enables most Pennsylvanians to vote by mail-in ballot and gives voters more time to register to vote. Penn State students, faculty and staff across the Commonwealth are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the reforms, as well as important dates leading up to the state primary election on April 28.

'If you see something, do something': Mental health resources at Penn State
"If you're struggling, seeking help is absolutely a sign of strength, not weakness," said Ben Locke, director of Counseling and Psychological Services. "And if you see something, do something. If you think a friend or peer is struggling in some way, check in, ask them how they are, or reach out for a consultation with a trusted source, like CAPS."
