Four-time Tony Award winner 'Pippin' to bring its magic to Penn State March 21
"Pippin," the 2013 Tony Award winner for Best Revival of a Musical, was described as "an eye-popping, jaw-dropping, visually stunning extravaganza—the thrill of the season!" by NY1. The touring Broadway production of the "Pippin" revival will make its Penn State debut at 7:30 p.m. March 21 in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Fred Hersch Trio and Anat Cohen to perform March 28 at Schwab Auditorium
The Fred Hersch Trio, described by a Wall Street Journal writer as "one of the major ensembles of our time," will perform with special guest Anat Cohen on clarinet/saxophone for a jazz performance at 7:30 p.m. March 28 in Schwab Auditorium.

Docunight screenings feature films with connections to Iran
Docunight, a monthly screening presenting films about, around or in Iran, or made by Iranians, will begin at 7 p.m. March 1 in Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library, with "Sohrab, A Journey." The 77-minute film, in Persian with English subtitles, features legendary Iranian filmmaker Sohrab Shahid Saless.

Gallery Exhibit: 'Hubert Davis: Scenes of Pennsylvania'
A public reception on April 6 will unveil a gallery featuring Depression-era artist Hubert Davis, which runs April 3 to June 9 at Penn State Lehigh Valley. The show will run concurrently with two other regional exhibits featuring Davis' work.

Filmmaker and writer Emmett Jack Lundberg to visit Dickinson Law
On March 29 the Dickinson Law community will welcome filmmaker and writer Emmett Jack Lundberg, creator of BROTHERS, an original, narrative web series following the daily lives of four transgender male friends in Brooklyn dealing with issues such as homophobia, transphobia, dysphoria, dating and more.

Irish Blessing to perform on St. Patrick's Day
Irish Blessing, an Irish heritage musical ensemble, brings a musical extravaganza to campus at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 17, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium, just in time for St. Patrick's Day. This event is free and open to the public.

Theater brings new programming and new perspectives to college community
Initial blueprints for Penn State Harrisburg's Student Enrichment Center (SEC) included a multi-purpose space on the first floor intended for lectures and special events. But over the course of the project's development, the concept for the space was gradually reshaped into what is now the SEC theater, a state-of-the-art venue for cultural and academic programming and student activities.

'Interfacing': MFA thesis exhibition by Valerie Dillon opens Feb. 27
"Interfacing," a Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition by Valerie Dillon is on display Feb. 27-March 3 in Penn State School of Visual Arts Edwin W. Zoller Gallery. The exhibition explores a time of uncertainty between two phases of life. Dillon will give a public artist talk at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, in Zoller Gallery. A closing reception will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 2.

Helen O'Leary to exhibit work at American Academy of Arts and Letters
Penn State School of Visual Arts Professor Helen O'Leary will be one of 35 artists exhibiting at the galleries of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, March 9-April 9, in New York City. The artists were chosen from a pool of 165 nominees submitted by the members of the Academy, America's most prestigious honorary society of architects, artists, writers and composers. Works on display will include paintings, sculptures, photographs and works on paper.

Concert Band and Symphonic Band to perform March 2 in Eisenhower Auditorium
The Penn State Concert Band and Symphonic Band will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 2 in Eisenhower Auditorium. The performance will feature works by Percy Grainger, Donald Grantham, Gustav Holst, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Norman Dello Joio.

Carr to give keynote at American Musicological Society meeting
Maureen Carr, distinguished professor of music, will be the keynote speaker for the American Musicological Society's Southeast Chapter Spring 2017 Meeting, to be held at Furman University, Saturday, March 18. The meeting will be hosted by the Music Department and Furman University Libraries.
