Penn State plans to resume on-campus work and learning in fall semester
Following a three-month comprehensive planning process, Penn State officials have determined that the University can meet or exceed the Pennsylvania Department of Education's guidelines for colleges and universities, and look forward to welcoming back faculty, staff and students to resume on-campus, in-person classes and other activities this fall in a limited fashion.

Alumni Association membership offer available until June 19
Anyone who joins or renews their Alumni Association membership by Friday, June 19, will be eligible to win two half-gallons of Berkey Creamery ice cream. Five winners will receive free ice cream, delivered to their home, and you can join/renew and find full details at alumni.psu.edu/June20.

Jim Stengel's 'personal' Penn State connection to continue during ALC Conference
Penn State Alumni Fellow Jim Stengel stays busy these days, running his own company and hosting a wildly popular podcast. The Alumni Association benefactor and media savant has remained especially close to Penn State over the years, and he'll share insight and wisdom with volunteer leaders when the Alumni Association hosts the virtual Alumni Leadership Connections Conference on June 27.

Ten elected to serve on Alumni Council
Ten alumni leaders have been voted onto Alumni Council — the Alumni Association's governing board — and will begin their terms July 1.

Students and visitors urged to continue physical distancing, avoid groups
Even as stay-at-home orders gradually lift in many Pennsylvania counties and businesses begin to partially reopen across the state, Penn State leaders remind students, employees and visitors that the governor's plan maintains critical social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines to help prevent the spread of coronavirus on campuses and in their surrounding communities.

Nittany Lions continue to impress in latest academic progress rate report
Penn State student athletes continue to excel in the classroom and surpass Division I national averages, according to data released today by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. "Our Penn State student athletes never cease to amaze me," stated Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Sandy Barbour.

General Assembly maintains Penn State's funding levels for 2020-21 fiscal year
The Pennsylvania General Assembly today (May 28) passed a partial state budget that maintains Penn State's current funding levels for the entire 2020-21 fiscal year. This includes level funding of $242.1 million for Penn State's general support appropriation, $54.96 million for Penn State Agricultural Research and Extension, and $26.74 million for Pennsylvania College of Technology.

University Libraries hosting second online trivia night June 19
Penn State University Libraries will host its second Libraries Trivia Night starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time Friday, June 19, online on the Zoom web platform. The event will feature a variety of Penn State-themed questions in a Jeopardy-style format, and prizes will be available.

New institute to help address complex food-energy-water-land challenges
The seed for Penn State's Institute for Sustainable Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Science was planted well before the COVID-19 outbreak. The concept had been growing in the College of Agricultural Sciences for about two years when the pandemic emerged.
