In 1964, at the age of 35, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. received the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent campaign against racial inequality. A few weeks later, on Jan. 21, 1965 -- 50 years ago -- King visited Penn State's University Park campus and addressed a crowd of more than 8,000 people at Rec Hall on the future of integration.

Additional security planned for Jan. 15-16 board and committee meetings

Penn State Police announced that additional security for today's (Jan. 15) and tomorrow’s (Jan. 16) Board of Trustees meetings will be in place and they urge individuals attending committee meetings today or the 1:30 p.m. meeting on Friday at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel to leave any large bags, backpacks or oversized handbags at home or in their vehicles.  Full story
