Trustees approve settling additional Sandusky claims

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – Penn State officials confirmed the University has settled and authorized settlements of a number of additional cases with victims of former assistant football coach Gerald Sandusky. The Penn State Board of Trustees in a special telephonic meeting today (April 9) passed a resolution authorizing settlements “in a manner that is fair, expeditious and efficient.”

The terms of the settlements are subject to confidentiality agreements and no further information about the number of settlements or dollar totals are being provided at this time. Officials said that information may be released at a later date when other settlements are made, so that the disclosure of the information does not inadvertently violate the confidentiality agreements.

“As a community, we continue to be profoundly saddened by the pain suffered by all victims of child abuse, and we remain committed to helping survivors heal and to educating others about these insidious crimes against children,” said Lawrence Lokman, vice president for Strategic Communications.
