Mountain hare mismatched to its surroundings

Less snowy winters produce camouflage mismatch in mountain hares

Mountain hares, which molt to a white coat in winters to blend in with the snow, are becoming increasingly mismatched to their surroundings due to climate change. The mismatch in seasonal camouflage from less snowy winters could expose the hares to predators.
