A group of Penn State students have started a program to bring awareness of and encourage the use of health and wellness services among minority students on the University Park campus. A new component of HealthWorks, the Minority Health Initiative was created to educate students on the resources available to them by HealthWorks, and to provide them with a safe place to talk about unique issues and concerns.
The last week or two of a semester can be stressful – with looming deadlines for class projects and the dreaded Finals Week. Students are not only preparing for the upcoming holiday, they’re working, and working hard, to complete their coursework and prepare for final exams. With so much stress inherent in these situations, the campus library, along with health services, have organized a variety of events to help students cope.
Excitement is mounting across campus at Penn State York, as the much-awaited grand opening of the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center is set for noon on Oct. 12. The ceremony will take place in the new plaza area behind the John J. Romano Administration Building and The Ruhl Center, and is open to students, faculty, staff and invited guests. The building is opening after a $13.5 million renovation and addition.
Jean Landa Pytel, assistant dean for student services and global programs and associate professor of engineering science and mechanics, will retire at the end of the calendar year.
