Berks softball team wins fifth NEAC championship

The Penn State Berks softball team had to do things the hard way as it worked back from the loser's bracket with three wins on May 5 to claim its fifth North Eastern Athletic Conference championship in six years. Berks topped Wilson College, 8-0, in five innings to start off the day. The team then had to beat Keuka College twice, which it would go on to do by scores of 12-3 (five innings) and then 5-0 in the winner-take-all seventh game of the tournament.

For the second week in a row, Penn State Berks swept the tennis and golf honors, as announced by the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) on Tuesday afternoon. Jess Rozick was also selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.

Penn State softball junior outfielders Lexi Knief (Ramsey, N.J.) and Macy Jones (Ashburn, Va.) were named Second Team All-Big Ten by the conference's coaches on Wednesday. Sophomore third baseman Shelby Miller (Sugar Land, Texas) was selected for the All-Defensive Team.

Softball advances to Big Ten quarterfinal with win over Maryland

Junior Lexi Knief (Ramsey, N.J.) collected four hits and scored three runs to lead the Penn State softball team past Maryland, 10-6, on Thursday in the First Round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Nittany Lions advance to Friday's Quarterfinal against top-seed Michigan at 2:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network. Penn State improved to 29-27 this season.

The Penn State softball team finishes the regular season this weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Michigan Wolverines, ranked third in the NFCA Coaches Poll. The Nittany Lions are riding a five-game win streak with an overall record of 28-24, including 9-11 in the Big Ten.
