UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Spreading the good news of Penn State and its alumni is at the core of the Penn State Alumni Association's mission. To share the stories of Penn Staters with even more people, the Alumni Association is launching the new "People of Penn State" podcast.
Each episode will feature a Penn Stater discussing their Penn State journey and what they are passionate about. With over 740,000 alumni worldwide, there’s no shortage of unique Penn State stories to share.
Listeners can expect to feel the pride and power of the Penn State network with each story of impact from these inspiring guests.
The People of Penn State is available on iTunes, Spotify or your podcast app/platform of choice. A video version of every episode will be available on the Alumni Association’s YouTube page. Links to each episode also can be accessed via the alumni experience section within the Penn State Go app.
The inaugural episode, hosted by Alumni Association CEO Paul Clifford ’20g, is available for listening today. Episode one features 2011 alumnus Jake Schrom as he shares his inspiring story.
Schrom graduated from Penn State with a bachelor’s degree in landscape contracting and now works professionally in landscape design and sales for his family’s company.
Schrom is the president of the Penn State Mont Alto Alumni Society and an Alumni Council member. He also is a Paralympian, having competed for Team USA in powerlifting at the Tokyo Games earlier this summer. He became an amputee in 2008, as a result of a work-related vehicle accident while he was a student at Penn State.
In the inaugural episode of the podcast, Schrom will discuss how he became a Penn Stater, his path to getting involved with Ability Athletics, competing at the Tokyo Paralympics, his experiences as an alumni volunteer leader, and much more.
