UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – As Penn State looks to the spring 2022 semester, guidance has been updated and released to inform faculty of on-campus work expectations and the work adjustments process, similar to the process released for fall 2021.
The spring 2022 process is part of the University’s commitment to keeping faculty members’ health concerns confidential and providing consistent implementation across the commonwealth.
Faculty with an existing, approved work adjustment for fall 2021 may complete this form to indicate whether they would like an extension of their work adjustment through the spring 2022 semester.
Faculty who do not have an existing, approved work adjustment for fall 2021 and who meet at least one of the criteria described within the guidance may request a work adjustment for spring 2022 by completing the Faculty Work Adjustment Request Form. This process is intended to only review requests directly related to COVID-19. Faculty members with disabilities still may request reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by contacting adainfo@psu.edu.
Adjustments are available to individuals who are immunocompromised or live with someone who is immunocompromised; instructors with children who are between 2 and 11 years old and are at high risk for complications from COVID-19; and instructors who, for medical reasons, cannot be vaccinated and have been granted a medical exemption from any applicable vaccine requirement. Adjustments will also be made for faculty with children 24 months of age and younger.
The deadline to submit an adjustment extension or request is Friday, Oct. 29. Post-doctoral researchers may also request accommodations via the process. Guidance can be found on the website of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs.
Approval for a work adjustment through this process is limited to approval for remote work within the United States.
