UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Dare to Disrupt is a new podcast from Invent Penn State about University alumni who are innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders, and the stories behind their success.

Invent Penn State is a commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development, job creation and student career success.

The podcast is hosted by alumnus Ryan Newman, a graduate of the Smeal College of Business and a Schreyer Scholar alumnus, who is now a managing director at Goldman Sachs.

In the first episode, Newman interviews Matt Brezina, a 2003 Schreyer Honors College and College of Engineering graduate. Brezina shares the stories behind his move across the country to Silicon Valley where his entrepreneurial interests turned into multi-million-dollar companies, including software company Xobni and custom greeting card company Sincerely.

At the end of each episode, a current Penn State student is given the opportunity to speak with the successful alum and ask questions specific to the student’s startup and/or career goals. In Episode 1, Divya Rustagi, a College of Engineering senior and founder of Apoio, an AI-powered clinical decisions support (CDS) tool, asks Brezina about entrepreneurship culture in Silicon Valley and the state of the mental healthcare tech industry overall.

Students can apply or be nominated to be on the show here.

New episodes of Dare to Disrupt release monthly on the last Thursday of the month. Learn more at the podcast website and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google Play.
