UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will offer a webinar on the time value of money on Oct. 5 and saving and investing on Oct. 19.

A full calendar of financial literacy events, including their Zoom links, can be found at financialliteracy.psu.edu.

The noon webinar on Oct. 5 explores the time value of money — the idea that money available at the present time is worth more than the same amount in the future. The webinar will cover interest rates, APR, amortization and the time value of money impact on debts and investments.

The saving and investing webinar at noon on Oct. 19 will cover compound interest; how to decide whether to save, invest or do both; risk assessment and risk versus return; and retirement.

Self-study modules for all webinars are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will also be participating in this year's Giving Tuesday event on Nov. 30. Giving Tuesday at Penn State is a University-wide fundraising initiative. More information will be released in the coming weeks.

The  Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
