Abington announces new director of Continuing Education

ABINGTON, Pa. — Penn State Abington has announced the appointment of Christine Cicio as director of Continuing Education, effective Sept. 20.

“I am honored and excited to join the Penn State Abington team as the next director of Continuing Education. I would like to thank Chancellor Margo DelliCarpini, as well as the search committee chaired by Tina Vance-Knight, for their assistance during the process. I look forward to strengthening and expanding our continuing education offerings and providing lifelong learning opportunities to all students,” Cicio said.

Cicio arrives at Abington from Rutgers University, where she was a senior program coordinator in the Division of Continuing Studies at the Center for Government Services. At Rutgers, she developed and maintained relationships with diverse external agencies and stakeholders, including education advisory committees, government agencies and associations. 

She is a data-driven manager with a demonstrated history of working in continuing education, community engagement and program development. Cicio is skilled in strengths-based leadership and relationship-building and specializes in evolving existing programs, identifying strategic opportunities and implementing new initiatives.

Her experience includes working with internal and external partners and developing new relationships as she expands and develops programs.
Prior to her time at Rutgers, Cicio served as the community education coordinator at Prevent Child Abuse – NJ, where she developed and delivered research-based workshops and events to groups statewide.

Cicio is a two-time graduate of Rutgers, having earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice and a master’s of public administration there. She also has completed a teaching certificate and a diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace certificate.
