DUNMORE, Pa. -- As of Sept. 8, Penn State Scranton released its vaccination rates for students and employees at the campus.
At Penn State Scranton 91% of full-time employees indicated they are fully vaccinated, including 100% of administrators, 100% of academic personnel (instructors, researchers and faculty) and 90% of nonunion staff.
Because Penn State Scranton is a commuter campus with no residential students on campus, student vaccination upload numbers may be lower compared to other campuses with residential students.
To date, 56% of Penn State Scranton students have uploaded their proof of vaccination. With more students continuing to upload their proof of vaccination each day, the actual vaccination rates on campus may be higher going forward. However, 44% of the campus’ students have not responded, so the status of those individuals’ vaccination rates is unknown at this time.
“We appreciate all of the students, faculty and staff who have taken the time to upload their proof of vaccination to date, and we are seeing more and more students upload their proof of vaccination as the semester gets underway, said Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa. “We will be working to support all members of our campus community in the vaccination process, as this is a critical need for our campus to promote the health and safety of the entire Penn State Scranton community.
Penn State Scranton has, and continues to take, a number of steps to support the health and safety of the campus population, including requiring all individuals to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status; symptomatic testing of students through campus health services; voluntary student testing via mail-in COVID-19 tests through Vault Health; and providing information on local pharmacies where students can get a COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, campus Student Services are working on plans to offer an on-campus vaccination clinic to be held later this month.
Vaccination data for all Penn State campuses will be available on the COVID-19 dashboard later this month.
Penn State previously announced that unvaccinated students and employees will be required to submit to weekly testing for COVID-19 throughout the fall semester. Penn State Scranton students can upload their vaccination records through myUHS. Campus employees can upload their vaccination records through Salesforce Health Cloud.
Voluntary and symptomatic testing is available at Penn State Scranton. Student tests can be ordered through the mail via the Vault Health mail-in test kit.
Currently, all unvaccinated Penn State students and employees are required to submit to weekly testing for COVID-19 throughout the fall semester, and that is currently underway at Penn State Scranton.
Penn State Scranton students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should stay home and seek symptomatic testing via Vault Health or a local provider. Employees who are experiencing symptoms are also advised to not come to campus and to schedule an appointment with their health care provider.
The University strongly encourages all individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as they are able, if they have not done so already. Throughout the fall semester, vaccines will be made available on or near all Penn State campuses. The CDC’s vaccines.gov website provides a list of nearby providers, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, pharmacies, department stores and grocery stores.
