Hershey Medical Center again ranked a top hospital for orthopedic care

HERSHEY, Pa. — U.S. News & World Report has ranked Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical center at as one of the best hospitals in the nation for 2021-22 in orthopedic care, coming in at No. 37. This is the fifth consecutive year that the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation has been recognized for its exceptional clinical care.

Hershey Medical Center also is recognized as “high performing” in five additional specialties: gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology and lung surgery and urology.

Hershey Medical Center provides patients across south central Pennsylvania and beyond with exceptional care for bone, joint and spine disorders. Specialists provide high-level care in all aspects of orthopedics, including joint reconstruction, musculoskeletal trauma, sports medicine, spinal disorders, hand surgery, soft tissue injuries and conditions and metabolic bone disease such as osteoporosis.

Overall, U.S. News & World Report ranked Hershey Medical Center as No. 1 in the Harrisburg metro region, and No. 6 in Pennsylvania out of more than 200 evaluated.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. Methodology for determining rankings includes measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, quality of nursing care and patient safety.

U.S. News also recognized Penn State Children’s Hospital among the Best Children’s Hospitals in cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, neonatology, nephrology and pulmonology in the 2021-22 rankings.
