Continued research in learning science informs recommendations on how instructors can help students learn and commit new ideas and material to long-term memory. There's a struggle, though, between what science has to say and what happens in classrooms.

Jane Sutterlin and Maria Wherley, both instructional designers in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences’ John A. Dutton E-education Institute, will discuss how technology and learning science can improve teaching. The webinar, which is free and open to the public, will be broadcast from 10 to 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, July 28, via Zoom: https://psu.zoom.us/j/96094907168.

The hosts will discuss how incorporation of learning science research principles, along with advances in technologies, can enhance teaching and learning, starting with the four Rs: relationships, relevance, rigor and reflection.

The webinar is sponsored by the Dutton Institute as part of the college’s 125th Anniversary celebration.
