Deputy chief investment officer among 'Top 50 Women in Investment Management'

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Sonali Dalal, deputy chief investment officer in Penn State’s Office of Investment Management, and a Penn State alumna, has been named to Allocator Intel’s inaugural list of the “Top 50 Women in Investment Management.”

Financial services organization Institutional Investor created Allocator Intel’s Top 50 Women in Investment Management list as a global platform to recognize “the most prominent women in asset management, nominated by their peers in recognition for gender advancement, driving the industry through diversity of thought, and serving as role models to other investment management professionals, regardless of gender,” according to a press release.

As Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Dalal manages a group of five other investment professionals and oversees efforts to source, conduct due diligence, and monitor a broad array of investment managers and investment strategies across the globe.

“Sonali is always looking to learn, build strong relationships, and apply her passion for investing to support the mission and values of Penn State,” said Joseph Cullen, chief investment officer in the Office of Investment Management. “Sonali’s strong analytical skills and ability to make critical judgments and decisions has contributed significantly to the strong investments returns Penn State has experienced during her 15+ years of dedication to the University.”

A CFA Charterholder, Dalal joined Penn State in 2003. Previously Dalal worked as a manager with the Overseas Investment Finance Group at the Export & Import Bank of India. She holds a chartered accountant designation and bachelor’s degree in commerce from Bombay University, and an MBA in finance from Penn State.

Katarina Storfer, Institutional Investor’s global director of investor relations, said in the press release that the organization wanted to recognize the efforts of women around the globe who are empowering other women in the asset management industry and inspiring the next generation of aspiring investment professionals.
