UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State World Campus chapter of the international legal honor society Phi Delta Phi has been named the organization’s International Hall of the Year for a third consecutive year.
Phi Delta Phi has 131 active chapters — called Inns and Halls — at law schools and colleges.
The International Hall of the Year Award is presented to the Phi Delta Phi chapter that best fosters academic excellence, chapter activities, individual member achievement, single projects, and chapter improvement.
The Penn State hall formed in 2015 and sponsors educational and career-related webinars, LSAT preparation classes, internships, and mentor programs. Donna Butler, magister of the organization, said the hall had hosted webinars with an international legal expert, a criminology professor, and an associate general counsel.
Membership in the Penn State hall is open to students enrolled in the undergraduate law and society program offered through Penn State World Campus.
Julie Fitzgerald, co-curricular program coordinator for World Campus, called it “remarkable” that the Penn State chapter was being honored for the third year in a row.
“It speaks to the level of commitment and dedication that Phi Delta Phi has made to the honor society’s mission and membership,” Fitzgerald said. “The organization continues to promote a higher standard of professional ethics and culture within the field.”
