UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State has updated its guidance for employees embarking on University-affiliated domestic travel. Effective July 1, employees may resume domestic travel without unit executive approvals.
Employees planning to travel on Penn State business should follow their unit’s pre-COVID-19 travel approval process.
Recognizing that travel poses additional risks relative to the spread of COVID-19, the University continues to urge employees to limit travel where possible and consider virtual options that might replace or reduce the need to travel.
Penn State strongly encourages employees be fully vaccinated before engaging in University-affiliated domestic travel.
In addition, employees planning University-affiliated domestic travel should:

Review Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidance for domestic travel;

Research restrictions imposed in the area(s) to which they are traveling in order to properly comply;

Follow all COVID-19 recommendations and requirements of the destination;

Arrange any necessary air travel through Anthony Travel, Penn State’s preferred travel agency, when possible; and

If you are unvaccinated, the CDC recommends upon return that you seek a viral test three- to five days after travel, and stay home and self-quarantine for seven days after travel.
The University plans to issue updated guidance for University-affiliated travel for students, as well as University-affiliated international travel for employees soon.
