Penn State Photo ID submission continues online, with Aug. 1 deadline

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — First-year and transfer students at all Penn State campuses will again be able to use an online process to submit a photo for their id+ card.

Online photo submission ensures that students will have their id+ cards when arriving for the fall semester.

Online process for submitting id+ card photos

After completing New Student Orientation (NSO), students will receive an email prompting them to upload a photo for their id+ card. The email will include a link to the online photo submission portal and general information about the Penn State id+ Card.

Students who digitally submit a photo will be entered into prize drawings sponsored by PNC Bank. Drawings will be held throughout the summer, with prizes including $100 Amazon gift cards and various amounts of LionCash.

To begin the photo submission process, students should log into the online portal with their Penn State access ID and password. Photos must meet the following requirements:

  • Background must be solid white
  • Face and shoulders must face forward
  • No sunglasses, hats, or anyone else in photo
  • Photo must be a color JPEG, minimum of 2x3 inches

Students will be notified via email when their photo has been accepted. University Park residential students’ id+ cards will be available for pickup after checking in at the Bryce Jordan Center. Cards will be mailed to non-residential students attending University Park. A list of pickup locations at Commonwealth Campuses will be on the New Students page of the id+ website.

Online photo submissions will be accepted until Sunday, Aug. 1. To avoid waiting in line, students should submit photos shortly after completing New Student Orientation.

University Park residential students who didn’t submit a photo online will need to visit the Ticket Office after checking in at Arrival in the Bryce Jordan Center. Cards will be issued to non-residential students attending University Park at the id+ Office in the HUB-Robeson Center. A list of office locations at Commonwealth Campuses will be on the id+ website.

To receive an id+ card when arriving on campus, students must present one of the following options:

  • Valid driver's license
  • State-issued photo ID
  • High school photo ID with a Social Security card
  • College photo ID with a Social Security card
  • Passport/permanent resident card
