On July 7, account holders will be logged out of many Penn State resources

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Beginning July 7, Penn State Account holders will log in to secure University applications such as Canvas, Lion PATH, Workday and Office 365 apps through a new Penn State sign-in process rather than through WebAccess.

What can I expect – and what might I need to do – on July 7?

On the morning of July 7, account holders will be logged out of many Penn State resources that previously used WebAccess. The next time they access those resources, they will be prompted to sign in using the new Penn State sign-in screens. Learn more about what to expect and what you may need to do.

Why is this happening?

The upgrade will improve security, reduce risk and maximize the value of the University's existing contract with Microsoft. It also paves the way for Penn State to make future enhancements that will reduce the number of times an account holder needs to sign in to access multiple Penn State resources.

What's different about the new sign-in process?

The Penn State sign-in process differs from the WebAccess log in process in two ways:

  1. Instead of just entering their Penn State user ID, account holders will enter the user ID followed by the Penn State identifier "@psu.edu" (e.g., abc123@psu.edu).
  2. Instead of entering their password on the same screen, account holders will click "Next" before entering their password on a second screen.
