UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New students starting in Summer Session II will be welcomed to the University Park campus through a mixture of virtual and in-person events during Summer Welcome from June 26-July 12.

Welcome Week events are designed to greet students and help them become more familiar with Penn State as soon as they arrive on campus. Some events during Welcome Week are part of Extended Orientation and are mandatory for all new students.

The full slate of events can be found at welcomeweek.psu.edu.

Dan Murphy, director of Student Orientation and Transition Programs, said his office and their campus partners are looking forward to greeting new students in person.

“We have been looking forward to this moment for a really long time,” Murphy said. “The opportunity to welcome the Class of 2025 to Penn State in person at Welcome Week this summer is really exciting. We are working hard with our partners across campus to give new students and their families the welcome they deserve!”

Events start on June 26 as new students arrive for the start of Summer Session II. From 11 a.m.-7 p.m. June 26, parents and families can send their students off with a celebration and meal at Findlay and Johnston commons. Students can use their meal plans for the first time and parents and families can join in with a special arrival meal deal for $8 per person. At 7 p.m., new students will meet with their resident assistants. Welcome Summer Fest follows at 8:30 p.m., featuring a concert headlined by musician Elley Duhé, food and activities at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park baseball stadium.

Extended Orientation on Sunday, June 27, builds on the foundations established during virtual orientation and is required for students new to campus. Students will be assigned their Extended Orientation slots after they arrive.

Numerous activities are scheduled for the week of June 28, including deans’ meetings, social events, faculty face time, International Student Orientation, a resource fair and more. Events continue through Summer Session II.

The schedule for fall 2021 Welcome Week will be available in mid-July.
