Benefit Fayette Student Aid Fundraising Drive raises more than $20,000

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The 2021 Benefit Fayette Student Aid Fundraising Drive has raised $20,686 for the general scholarship and student emergency funds at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.

Benefit Fayette, which is traditionally hosted on campus with dinner and entertainment, was transformed into a virtual fundraiser due to restrictions on gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. The effort has raised more than $500,000 since 2016.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to student aid. Ninety percent of Fayette students are eligible for financial aid, nearly half of which are first-generation college students.

“Although Benefit Fayette looks different this year, the generosity of our sponsors remains stronger than ever,” said Lori Omatick, director of development and chair of the Benefit Fayette Student Aid Fundraising Drive. “We hope you will be able to join us in May 2022 for next year’s Benefit Fayette event.”

“The support of this community, reflected in our donors, is for many students the margin for accessibility to Penn State,” said Charles Patrick, Penn State Fayette chancellor and chief academic officer. “For your continued support and enthusiasm for Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, we say a heartfelt thank you.”

Donors at every level are acknowledged in a professionally designed digital program, available here, which includes video remarks from campus leadership.

Tax-deductible gifts may still be made securely here or by contacting the Office of Development at 724-430-4190.

This fundraising drive advances “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence,” a focused campaign that seeks to elevate Penn State’s position as a leading public university in a world defined by rapid change and global connections. With the support of alumni and friends, “A Greater Penn State” seeks to fulfill the three key imperatives of a 21st century public university: keeping the doors to higher education open to hard-working students regardless of financial well-being; creating transformative experiences that go beyond the classroom; and impacting the world by serving communities and fueling discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship.
