Nominations open for Commissions for Equity and Dis/ability Access Initiative

Student, staff and faculty nominations for President's Commissions accepted through June 28

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Commission for Women; the Commission on Racial/Ethnic Diversity; the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity; and the Dis/ability Access Initiative working group at Penn State are accepting appointment nominations through June 28. Students especially are encouraged to consider this leadership opportunity.

Those who would like to nominate a University student, staff or faculty member for membership on these groups can complete and submit a nomination form.

Requiring approximately a 2–4 hour per month commitment, these groups serve as advisory groups to Penn State’s president, providing recommendations germane to issues of disability justice; women-identified; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer; and/or, racially or ethnically diverse people at Penn State. These groups are charged with the identification of barriers that inhibit the full inclusion and advancement of persons from underrepresented and/or underserved populations in order to forward innovative, evidence-informed recommendations that support the creation of an inclusive and welcoming campus climate.

Questions may be directed to Sonia DeLuca Fernández, associate vice provost in the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity, at szd197@psu.edu.
