Penn State Language Institute offers summer intensive world language courses

Courses are available to all students, University-wide; beginner levels start June 14

The Penn State Language Institute is offering courses remotely this summer. Students from all Penn State campuses are welcome to take a world language class, especially if the language they are interested in is not offered at their campus.

The classes are open to undergraduate and graduate students as well as to academically motivated high school students. Courses are intensive and short, lasting from 2.5 to 4 weeks each. The beginner levels start on June 14.

The institute will hold its federally funded STARTALK Arabic Academy (equivalent to the Penn State Arabic 001 course) from June 21 till July 16. Higher levels of Arabic are also available, as well as Chinese, German, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Russian and Spanish.

The academy offers scholarships covering most of the student tuition of all participating high school and undergraduate students. Partial scholarships may be available for some languages.
