College of the Liberal Arts May 9 commencement moved to noon due to weather

Ceremony will begin at noon on Sunday, May 9; gates open at 11 a.m. at Beaver Stadium

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Due to forecasted persistent rain the afternoon of Sunday, May 9, the Penn State College of the Liberal Arts commencement ceremony at Beaver Stadium on Sunday, May 9 will be shifted to begin at noon. Gates will open at 11 a.m.; graduates and guests may begin arriving at 11 a.m. The Liberal Arts ceremony’s originally planned speakers and program will remain as scheduled.

As previously shared, guests are encouraged to dress accordingly for the weather. Please note that umbrellas are not allowed in the stadium, but guests may bring ponchos or blankets.

Other planned commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 9 are set to take place as scheduled. The ceremony for the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Health and Human Development will begin at 9 a.m., and the University-wide virtual ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

In the event of any further schedule changes due to weather, additional updates will be shared on Penn State News and the University’s commencement website.
