Connect with the College of Education community during We Are Weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of Education is hosting four free events for alumni and friends as part of We Are Weekend. Organized by the Penn State Alumni Association, We Are Weekend features opportunities to engage with fellow alumni and create new Penn State memories. This year, the Alumni Association is planning a special week-long edition, from June 14 to 18, of their signature event.

The Social Equity Alumni Network Affiliate Program Group (APG) will present “A Cooking Journey to New Orleans” at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 15. Jhan Doughty-Berry and members of the APG will take participants on a mini-tour of New Orleans by cooking three desserts with a Penn State-inspired twist. Ingredients for the desserts — Sticky Alumni Bread Pudding, Peachy Praline Bananas Foster and Jhan’s Stately Beignets — will be emailed to registrants one week in advance for those who want to cook along at home. The registration deadline is June 7.

“We Are … Painting for Fun!” will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18. Penn State College of Arts and Architecture alumnus Ray Noll will show attendees how to paint the face of the Nittany Lion in a one-hour session organized by the College of Education Alumni Society Board Outreach and Engagement Committee. A list of materials will be provided to registrants one week prior to the event. The registration deadline is June 10.

The “Keller Collective Gallery Virtual Tour” will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18. Attendees will be able to view past and present artwork and an oral history of the Keller Collective Gallery; and meet faculty and students behind this inter-departmental collaboration, which includes the School of Visual Arts in the College of Arts and Architecture and the Department of Learning and Performance Systems in the College of Education.

Alumni and friends will have an opportunity to learn about new and exciting initiatives in the College of Education during a “Meet the Dean” session with Dean Kimberly Lawless at 4 p.m. Friday, June 18.
