UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Graduating students and guests planning to attend in-person commencement ceremonies in Beaver Stadium at University Park from Friday, May 7, through Sunday, May 9, are encouraged to review the following guidelines to help prepare for the day.

Weather:

  • Guests are encouraged to check the weather and dress accordingly; ceremonies will take place rain or shine. Please note that umbrellas are not allowed in the stadium, but guests may bring ponchos or blankets.
  • In the event of severe weather, outdoor ceremonies at that time will be canceled and not rescheduled. Graduates and guests should check the University’s commencement website for the latest updates in the event of severe weather.

Tickets:

  • Tickets (for those who RSVP’d in advance) are required for entry into the stadium. Graduates and guests (up to two guests per graduate) are required to arrive together to their specific ceremony at the entry time posted on the tickets so they can enter as a group (pod). Individuals who do not have a ticket will not be permitted to enter the stadium.
  • For those with questions, ticket resolution booths will be available at Gates A and B and will be open 60 minutes prior to each ceremony and will remain open for the duration of each ceremony.

COVID-19 safety:

  • All students, guests and employees in attendance are required to wear face masks and maintain physical distancing in the stadium to help minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19.

Stadium policies:

  • The Beaver Stadium bag policy will be in effect for all ceremonies. One clear, flat-seamed, one-gallon plastic bag (no bigger than 11" x 11" x 0") per person will be permitted for medical, child care and general needs. In the event of rain, cameras can be placed in the gallon-sized bag.
  • Purses, backpacks, umbrellas, camera bags and other items are not permitted. Please see the bag policy for more details on what can and cannot be brought into the stadium.

Parking:

  • There will be no cost for parking when using these lots. For more information on commencement parking, visit the commencement parking website.
  • Tailgating will not be allowed in the parking lots before or after the ceremonies.

In addition, to help make commencement celebrations accessible to all graduating students and their friends and families, college ceremonies at University Park will be livestreamed and a University-wide virtual ceremony on May 9 will be available for students, friends and family members who are unable to attend or prefer to participate online.

Additional information, the ceremony schedule, and other frequently asked questions are available on the University’s commencement website.
